PNP Launches Aggressive Manhunt for Digos City Barangay Captain’s Killer

Digos city: Philippine National Police acting chief Lt. Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. has initiated an aggressive manhunt to apprehend the suspects involved in the killing of Barangay Tres de Mayo Captain Oscar 'Dodong' Bucol Jr. The barangay captain was murdered in Digos City, Davao del Sur, while live streaming on Facebook.

According to Philippines News Agency, investigators have identified several persons of interest, drawing from statements and names previously mentioned by Bucol in his social media posts. Nartatez has instructed police units in Davao del Sur and surrounding provinces to mobilize tracker teams and conduct follow-up operations in collaboration with local authorities to ensure the swift arrest of the culprits.

Bucol was fatally shot by unidentified suspects at approximately 9 p.m. on November 25. The shocking incident was captured on his Facebook live video, which was streaming on his social media account at the time. Nartatez expressed the police's commitment to bringing justice to Bucol and his family, emphasizing that operatives are directed to pursue every lead to locate and arrest those responsible. This effort aligns with President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.'s directive to resolve violent incidents targeting local officials promptly.

A reward of PHP2 million is being offered for information leading to the arrest of the suspects. As the operations continue, Nartatez urged residents to report any useful information and assured them that security measures across the city have been tightened to prevent further incidents.
