MANILA: The Social Security System (SSS) is urging its members to update their contact details to ensure seamless access to their accounts as the organization implements Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) on its My.SSS Portal. This announcement comes amidst rising concerns over online fraud, prompting the SSS to bolster the security of its digital platforms. According to Philippines News Agency, SSS officer in charge Voltaire Agas highlighted the importance of the new authentication process, which requires members to enter a passcode sent to their registered mobile numbers each time they log in to their My.SSS account. This move is part of the SSS's strategy to safeguard members from unauthorized access and potential fraud. Agas emphasized that outdated or inactive contact information could lead to difficulties in accessing the portal. Members are encouraged to update their information either online through their My.SSS account or by visiting any SSS branch. Agas noted that mobile numbers in the SSS database that are no longer active can be updated online. However, members who do not have a mobile number on file must fill out a Member Data Change Request form at an SSS branch. For those facing challenges with the My.SSS Portal, the SSS has established e-centers in branch offices staffed with personnel ready to assist users. SSS Senior Vice President for Information Technology Management, Maria Belinda San Jose, explained that the My.SSS Portal offers two authentication methods: SMS One-Time Password (SMS-OTP) and Time-based One-Time Password (TOTP). By default, members will receive a six-digit passcode via SMS each time they log in. Alternatively, members can opt for TOTP, which generates a verification code through the Google Authenticator app. San Jose stated that these multi-factor authentication options are designed to enhance the portal's security, minimizing the risks of unauthorized access and potential fraud.
