PNP Arrests 11 High-Priority Offenders and Seizes PHP47.7 Million in Illegal Drugs

Suita: The Philippine National Police (PNP) on Sunday said intelligence-driven operations led to the arrest of 11 wanted personalities and confiscation of PHP47.7 million worth of illegal drugs the last two days.

According to Philippines News Agency, the 11 high-priority offenders face serious charges such as murder, trafficking in persons, rape, and violations of the firearms laws. Among those arrested was a national-level most wanted individual linked to trafficking and estafa, and a regional top-ranked fugitive wanted for murder.

PNP Chief Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. emphasized the commitment to public safety while upholding due process and human rights. The PNP anti-drug units also apprehended high-value individuals and seized a total of 696 grams of shabu, valued at PHP4.7 million. In Ilocos Sur and Benguet, law enforcers dismantled marijuana plantations and destroyed thousands of fully grown plants and dried leaves worth PHP43 million.

Meanwhile, in response to reports of smuggled cigarettes being sold in retail stores, Nartatez directed police chiefs nationwide to collaborate with village officials. He stressed the importance of making store owners aware of the legal consequences of selling smuggled and illegally manufactured cigarettes. This initiative aligns with President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.'s directive to combat smuggling, which undermines government revenue for social services.

Nartatez reiterated that this is part of an ongoing strategy to eradicate illegal tobacco supply chains and protect public revenues. He called on the public to support law enforcers by reporting any known sales of smuggled tobacco products in their communities.
